What a great post! Lauren is an incredible artist and we’re very lucky to be working with her again.
For those of you who don’t know — Lauren Montgomery did some wonderful work with WB and their DC Animated films.
Her credits include directing the Wonder Woman movie along with Green Lantern: First Flight, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (which…despite the title focuses mostly on Supergirl but also has some badass scenes featuring Wonder Woman and Big Barda), Justice League: Doom and co-directed Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and Batman: Year One. She had also fought to get Batgirl: Year One made but it didn’t happen because DC/WB thinks girls and action don’t mix.
“Oh boy, is this an old one. 08! 2 years ago I tried to convince DC and Warner Home video to let me direct this as one of the Direct to DVD line of DC movies. It’s my most favorite graphic novel ever! I love it to death. Needless to say, they were not interested in anything that did not have Superman or Batman in the leading role. It went nowhere.” (x)
BUT now she’s working on Korra after leaving DC/WB to help bring us more badass ladies and we’re excited!
