I opened at work today and due to blizzard-like conditions it was…. beyond slow. But hey, you won’t hear me complaining! Down time means drawing, at least to me it does.
As many of you probably know, Captain and I like puppies. Like, a lot. I’m in Toronto visiting him and since we won’t be together for Valentines day I gave him his Valentine- a painting of us if we were puppies. I am a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and he is a pug. He really loved it and it felt really nice giving it to him. Making things for people you love is a great joy.
Well wouldn’t you know it, that same afternoon we went shopping and when we were in Lululemon a girl came in with her two dogs- a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and a Pug, in adorable little jackets. Needless to say, we peed. Okay we didn’t pee. But squeals were emitted. Their little outfits even match the painting ;___; we got to pet them and they were so lovely as was their owner. It kind of confirmed for us that these are the kinds of dogs we want, and they got along so well that it was very reassuring. It was a very fun coincidence and I think I spent the rest of the night talking about them.
Another recent sketch! Used a reference for this but deviated from it halfway through. Lately I’ve been sketching with pencil crayons almost exclusively.
Sooo at the end of last year, World of Warcraft had a sale to buy a month of game time for $5. And I was like HOT DAMN because I had been trying the free version for awhile and was having fun. So I bought it and started playing. I loved it. Too much. A month later I ended up having to delete the game from my computer because I wasn’t getting anything productive done and I felt guilty for spending so much time on it.
Even though the characters on WoW are pretty customizable, I found the body types/skin tones somewhat limiting.. anyways. So my main toon, a hunter, spends most of her time hiking up mountains to attack things from afar, or sending her beast to tank the attack and doing damage far away whilst running around, so I wanted to make her extremely pear shaped. She has killer thigh muscles that I am jealous of, which is probably what prompted me to draw her this way.
But yeah, I miss Wow. A lot. Like I really never thought I would be one of those people who finds video games addictive but I find myself, all the time, thinking “man I wish I could do a dungeon right now”. Because not only did a play with a lot of my IRL friends on there, but I met lots of really nice people there too who were fun and made my game experience very enjoyable.
I didn’t intend for this post to be so sad, but there you have it.
